Bulletins

On this page, we will announce current issues, changes in our service and downtimes.

Every month's first Saturday from 20:00 to 08:00 (EET/EEST) is our regular maintenance window. Upgrades to our servers will be done during that time. During maintenance window there may be short breaks (5 to 10 min) in services. Any longer breaks in service will be announced separately.

One of our www servers, Uljas has been a failure and does not work at the moment, we are examining the situation.

Uljas works again.

Toissijaisen nimipalvelimemme (ns2.sange.fi) verkkoyhteys ei toimi ilmeisesti operaattorin laitteistossa olevan vian takia. Tästä johtuen Ficora lähettää automaattiviestin jossa mainitaan ettei verkko-osoitteen nimipalvelimet toimi, nämä viestit voi jättää huomiotta sillä verkko-osoite toimii myös yhdellä nimipalvelimella kunnes saamme vikatilanteen päättymään.

Vikatilanne jatkuu edelleen, selvitämme tilannetta parhaillaan yhteistyössä palveluntarjoajamme kanssa.

Haluamme muistuttaa että Ficoran automatiikan lähettämät viestit voi jättää huomioimatta sillä verkko-osoite toimii normaalisti myös yhdellä nimipalvelimella. Arvioitu päättymisaika vikatilanteelle on maanantai iltapäivä.

Vikatilanteen uudesta korjaantumisaikataulusta ei ole tietoa, odotamme operaattorimme toimenpiteitä.

Vikatilanne on päättynyt ja toissijainen nimipalvelin jälleen käytössä.

Palveluntarjoajamme suorittaa pakollisia verkon huoltotöitä tiistaina 25.1. kello 18:00 alkaen tästä johtuen Sangenkin palvelut ovat tavoittamattomissa noin viisi minuuttia. Palveluiden tulisi palautua normaalitilaan viimeistään kello 18:10, jos ongelmia ilmenee tämän jälkeen pyydämme ottamaan yhteyttä asiakaspalveluumme.

Palvelumme kärsivät noin tunnin mittaisesta katkosta kello 19:00-20:00 kolmannen osapuolen ongelmista johtuen. Tänä aikana pääpalvelin oiva.sange.fi sekä muut merkittävät palvelut kuten sähköposti eivät toimineet. Tilanne on palautunut ja palveluiden tulisi toimia normaalisti, jos ongelmia kuitenkin ilmenee otattehan yhteyttä asiakaspalveluumme.

Our main server oiva.sange.fi was down until about 11:30 due to jammed virtual machine.

Sähköpostin tunnistaumispalvelussa oli ongelmia n. klo 16:20 - 17:50. Osa asiakkaistamme ei päässyt tämän vuoksi kirjautumaan sähköpostiinsa.

Osuuskunta Sangen merkittävin palvelin oiva.sange.fi oli poissa käytöstä tai vain osittain toiminnassa sunnuntaina 14.2.2010 kello 04.00-16.45. Osuuskunta Sangen palvelintilantarjoaja Tenue Oy yritti siirtää palvelinta uudemmalle laitealustalle tänä aikana.
Siirron oli tarkoitus valmistua aamuyhdeksältä, mutta alkuperäinen siirto keskeytyi jo 04.04. Tenue Oy:n automatiikka nosti epäkoherentissa tilassa olevan palvelinkopion pystyyn kello 04.07, mutta se ei kyennyt tarjoamaan mitään vaadittavista palveluista. Alkuperäinen data ei kuitenkaan vahingoittunut, sillä se sijaitsi pois päältä olevalla, alkuperäisellä palvelinkopiolla.
Tilanne todettiin noin yhdeksältä aamulla, ja otettiin yhteyttä Tenue Oy:hyn. Tenue käynnisti uuden siirron noin kymmeneltä aamupäivällä, kun arvio oli, että sen pitäisi mennä läpi noin puoleen päivään mennessä.
Iltapäivän aikana kävi kuitenkin ilmi, että siirtoon menee merkittävästi pidempi aika kuin oli arvioitu. Palvelimen siirto päätettiin toteuttaa joskus tulevaisuudessa, sillä palvelin oli jo tähän mennessä ollut alhaalla sietämättömän pitkään. Päätös keskeyttää siirto ja nostaa palvelin pystyyn alkuperäisellä laitealustallaan olisi tehty jo aiemmin, jos Tenue Oy olisi pitänyt Sangen paremmin ajan tasalla siirron etenemisestä.
Palvelin saatiin käyntiin ja palvelut toimintaan noin kello 16.45. Pahoittelemme syntynyttä häiriötä omasta ja Tenue Oy:n puolesta.
Palvelut, joihin katko ei vaikuttanut, olivat nimipalvelu ja sähköpostin luku. Sähköpostin välitys oli sekin katkenneena katkon ajan. Katkon aikana Sangen palvelemiin osoitteisiin lähetetyt viestit saapuvat perille vähitellen, kun lähettävät järjestelmät purkavat jonoon jääneitä sähköpostiviestejään.

Mailbox server will be relocated starting from 20:00 o'clock. This means that mail cannot be read during the maintenance break. Also Sange's webmail will be unavailable. Mailbox server will be available again on Sunday morning 8:00 o'clock the latest.

Our main web and incoming mail server was unreachable due to network problems from 10:00 to 11:50.

Server aulis.sange.fi was down due to broken disk.

During maintenance break in 3.1., MySQL server was updated. MySQL's PASSWORD() function has changed. To retain old behaviour, change any reference to PASSWORD() with OLD_PASSWORD(). MySQL recommends that MD5() or SHA1() is used instead of PASSWORD(). For more information, see MySQL PASSWORD() function documentation.

Our Internet Service Provider had a break in their network beginning at 12.30 until 1.45 pm. All our web hotels were unreachable at the time.

There was trouble delivering mail from our servers into pp.inet.fi and other domains served by mta.inet.fi. The problem was due to our being listed on a DNSBL because of the phishing accident on Oct 17th - a user had disclosed account and password information to spammers. We kindly remind our users to read section 4 of our Service Conditions.
We tried to reach the inet.fi postmasters immediately after noticing the delivery problems, but getting through to them proved difficult.

Our main server (oiva.sange.fi) was upgraded to new hardware. The server was offline between 22-07.

There was a failure in our service provider's network today morning until abt 8.30 and then again at abt 10.30. Everything should be operational again now (11.00 am).

Removed rinetd port forwarding from oiva.sange.fi IMAPs port to mail.sange.fi IMAPs port. According to the rinetd logs, mostly nobody uses oiva.sange.fi as the IMAPs server address anymore.
16.-18.5.2008
UPDATE 17.5.2008 2.15pm: most services, including email and most www pages, were up already yesterday. We've had some trouble with some clients' www pages, as well as intranets. Mostly everything should be up and running now, but it is still recommended to see whether services you have installed yourselves are in need of upgrading.
The main sarver of Sange Coop, oiva.sange.fi, will be down during maintenance 16th to 18th of May. During the downtime, email traffic, www pages and the shell account will be unreachable.
The maintenance cannot be avoided any longer, because the operating system version of oiva.sange.fi no longer receives security updates - so we have to update the operating system. We try to complete the maintenance as fast as possible, but since many integral components of the system are updated, we have to receive this much time for the maintenance. It is very much possible that the system will be at least partly up again as soon as friday night.
If there are any problems or strange behaviour of the system after 18th May, please contact info@sange.fi.

Edit 19.4.: the network is apparently back up, beg with 8.30 pm. So the backups should also function beg with tonight - we missed only four of them this time.
Now that our backup infrastructure is back online, the network of our ISP (the ISP of the backup site) is down. They're promising to get it back up by Sunday night. Yes, we find this outrageous, too. Anyway, the bottom line is: another week of no backups. We apologize for the inconvenience.

A failure in our backup infrastructure led to all backup's being lost in Black Friday. We are currently (April 2nd) recovering from the situation, and normal incremental backup should commence beg with April 7th.

There was a hard to find network problem in our ISP's network which caused all HTTP services (web hotels) to be down between Jan 18 9 pm and Jan 19 0:01 am.

There were problems with the authentication service that caused some accounts not to be able to log in to mail service. Problem started around 11:00 and was fixed at 14:45.
7.10.-18.10.2006
There were regular performance problems twice an hour with our main web server. The cause of these problems was tracked down to a broken hard drive in our virtual server's host machine.

There has been a break-in on our main web server and some customers' web pages (index.html, index.php etc.) documents have been edited. We are in the process of investigating the incident and will report back later.
20.8.2006
Our main www and database server crashed for currently unknown reason on 18.8. at about 18:30. The server was rebooted on 20.8. at 02:00. The break affected all our services. In addition, the e-mail service on other server was interrupted, possibly as a side effect of the problem on the main server. E-mail service was restarted at 17:10.

There were login problems in the mail service that were due to a corrupted LDAP authentication database.

IMAP mail server and secondary DNS servers offline due to hardware failure (network switch broke around 06.30). IMAP server back online at 11.20. Switch replaced and all connections restored at 12.20. During the break it was impossible for customers to access their mailboxes. However, no mail has been lost.

Email server migration at Sat 2nd Feb 2006 2 PM - 12 PM: The IMAP mail server will get separated from the main server. The IMAP service, including webmail, will be down during the migration, that is, 2 PM to 12 PM (midnight). We apologize for any inconvenience.

Your email client should function as before after the break. No email will be lost in any case. However, there might be trouble with finding folders other than INBOX - in that case, consult here (in Finnish only, sorry).

Maintenance window at Sat 2.7.2005 20 PM - 08 AM: The main server kernel update will be done during the maintenance window. Estimated downtime on update will be 5 minutes. There will be also updates to system software and services. Some short outages (5 to 10 minutes) may appear on our services. Also, the kernel and system software on one of our name servers will be updated. This will not cause any outages to the service.

Also, our operator will have a maintenance break during our maintenance window. They will re-arrange physical connections between machines for improved security. They have announced that there may be a downtime of 30 minutes max during the maintenance window. We apologize for the inconvenience.
